Travel Cards : Senior Citizens (over 60’s)
Concessionary travel arrangements within England for people over 60 have changed.
From 1st April 2008 the new English National Concessionary Travel scheme, introduced by the government,
gives all Senior Citizens (over 60’s) and eligible people with a disability free travel, on bus only,
between the hours of 0930 and 2300 Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays anywhere
in England. Please note that this concession does not include coach services.
As part of the new arrangements new English National Concessionary Passes, in a common format,
are being issued by all local authorities. As well as bearing the English rose graphic they will also carry the
logo of the issuing authority (this will be the Centro logo in the case of people living in the West Midlands County).
Anyone with a new design English concessionary pass displaying the logo can enjoy free local bus travel
throughout England between 0930 and 2300 Mondays to Fridays and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays however
individual local authorities are able to specify enhancements to the validity of their own scheme, details of these
are available from the local authority who issued the pass.
