Travel Midland Metro is pleased to announce further good news concerning journey's on the Midland Metro.
Phil Bateman Corporate Affairs Director said "Not only is our services proving a hit with passengers as we continually hit high reliability on the route. But crime figures continue to be driven down on what is already recognised as being a 'low crime transport system'.
Our latest statistics show that just 267 crime incidents were recorded by British Transport Police during 2005. This is a reduction of 22.6% over the 2004 figures and we believe that this is really important set of statistics. In fact we have seen crime reduce by a massive 41% over the first statistics collated in 2002.
Our success in driving crime down in this way is due to a number of combinations. There is a very positive partnership under our Operations Safer Travel initiative with British Transport Police and West Midlands Police. There is the hard work and diligence of our staff and customers who constantly provide intelligence for the police to act upon, and the innovations that have been introduced to protect staff and customers like cctv."
Fred Roberts General Manager Travel Midland Metro added "We are going to look to depress crime even further across the system over the next 12 months. Maintaining a low crime transport system is difficult and challenging but it has huge rewards in providing comfortable travel arrangements for staff and customers alike. We hope that these statistics will encourage even more people to confidently ride Metro over this year."
